A letter from the president of Customized Fitness Systems about the revolutionary Woodway Treadmills

Dear fitness enthusiast,

Customized Fitness Systems would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to the finest line of treadmills that are available for today's fitness enthusiast.

Woodway treadmills are the most comfortable, quietest and most durable treadmills available, using less space than traditional treadmills.

When you run on a Woodway, you experience a running surface so comfortable that most users prefer to run on them barefoot. Unlike traditional treadmills that have a thin conveyor belt, revolving around a hard deck beneath, Woodway treadmills utilize a 3/8" thick vulcanized rubber surface and SlatFlex systems that absorbs the force of the foot strikes at the point of impact without changing the biomechanics of running. The SlatFlex system consisting of 80 to 116 rubber coated T-slats, float on a ball-bearing transportation system that delivers a smooth and quiet running experience.

Woodway treadmills are available with optional 25% inclines, 0.5 to15 MPH speed range, 0.5 to 5 MPH reverse speed, Personal Training Display Board including heart rate control programs for weight loss and cardiovascular training. All units are offered with an optional 22" wide running surface and an even an interactive display monitor with a built-in Television display (Elite Model). The "Path" models are only 52" in length, making them the most space efficient treadmills available but still allowing for a safe and comfortable running area for the tallest of users.

A traditional treadmill running belt system, passes over a hard deck causing friction and wear to the belt, deck and motor. The belts eventually will stretch causing slippage and tracking problems and wear to both the belt and deck. These belts have to be kept taught at all times causing heavy wear on the bearing in the front and rear rollers. Woodway treadmill running surfaces will never wear out nor cause friction and wear to the running belt, rollers and drive motor as found on treadmills with the running belt and deck beneath.

Woodway treadmills never have to have their belts and decks waxed or lubricated, the belts never have to be tightened nor the tracking adjusted to center the running belt. The drive motor is positioned between the running surface, reducing the overall length of the machines and allowing for an open front design, preventing the user from kicking the motor housing found on traditional treadmills.

Buy the treadmill the professionals use. Woodway treadmills are currently being used by The Los Angeles Dodgers, The Los Angeles Lakers, The Anaheim Angels, The Anaheim Mighty Ducks, The San Diego Chargers, The United States Olympic Team, The San Diego Padres, UCLA, USC, UC Irvine, and even The White House, to mention just a few satisfied customers.

Yours in fitness,

The Force Plus, Force 2.0, and Force 3.0

The Best Way to Train for Speed & Athletic Power

The Force is a stationary, programmable "sport loading" platform designed specifically for speed, acceleration, and athletic power. The Force products combine the Woodway's low friction treadmill design with a variable resistance braking system of 15 to 150 lbs of load or resistance that requires no drive motor.

The system works by tethering the athlete in place so that they become the "drive" or motor mechanism for the track. The output or ground reaction forces generated by the athlete determine the work, acceleration, and top speed capabilities of the Force product. Functionally these Ground Reaction Forces are specific to the over land or true game conditions that all athletes encounter in their sport, making Force training highly effective for preseason, in season, and even rehabilitation training.

By adding more resistance via the brake, and varying interval times and target speeds to be achieved, the Force also provides an extremely functional method in which to target and train Energy Systems Development (ESD) specific to the sport or activity being trained for. Simply put, the Force gives coaches & trainers a remarkable edge in training athletes for speed, explosiveness, and anaerobic endurance.

Virtual Sprinting mode on the Force involves training with little to no added resistance, and provides the opportunity to concentrate and work on stride length, stride frequency, and the all important running technique.

As load is added either manually, or via programmed intervals, the athlete must in turn generate more power (output) so as to propel the track assembly, which functionally mimics pushing off and propelling their body down the field, court, or track. This Varied Resistance Mode can be constructed to provide even more specificity to the sport once the work/rest ratio of the activity is factored in so that Energy System Development Training (ESD) is accomplished.

Form Training in all training modes is made simple by the fact that the athlete is fixed in space providing continuous "real time" form monitoring and coaching opportunity. Once running form is analyzed and coached in all phases of running performance, including fatigue states that rob the athlete of speed dependent good form, real performance gains can be coached, seen and measured.

Providing the Measurements You Need

By providing three variations of programmability and performance measurement, the Force can provide you with as much data as you need. The Force Plus - our base model - measurements include:

Elapsed Time

Speed in MPH/KPH

Mets
Distance in Yards/Meters
Heart Rate (Polar Compatible)
Resistance or Load in lbs
Work in "real time" Watts and accumulated watts

In addition, the Force Plus features 10 User Defined Programs that allow up to 40 stages in each program to be defined for duration and load.

The Force 2.0 & Force 3.0 go even further by allowing the data to be tracked, and actual power output to be measured via load cells built into the system and captured via a proprietary software system. These versions of the Force take the basic system from a primary training application product, to a testing & training capability.

It's a Woodway

As the Force is built on the legendary feel, comfort and durability of the world's first and finest shock absorbing treadmill, your athletes will feel the difference in their training. As the choice of both professional sports teams and individual athletes, the Woodway running surface allows hard, high intensity training, yet it is not hard on your athlete's joints and soft tissues.

Plus, with no direct friction parts to wear out and no drive motor or drive electronics, the reliability and dependability of the Force is in a league of its own. The result of this combination of technology and training science is a truly unique and functionally specific training platform that will be there for you and your athletes training session after training session, year after year.

Woodway treadmills feature an original (internationally - patented) design which was developed in response to conventional treadmill designs. It's designers set out to develop a safe and comfortable running surface for humans which also did not create the kind of friction associated with the conveyor belt style. To do this they started with a ball-bearing transportation system. Then they created an entirely new running surface.

Imagine. . .

A surface so comfortable you can run on it barefoot.
A system so powerful it can accelerate from 0 to 16.5 MPH in less than 8 seconds.
A system so efficient it saves more energy than any other treadmill.
A design so functional you can train elite athletes at high speeds, or rehabilitate the heaviest patients at near-zero speeds.
A system that runs nearly maintenance-free, year after year.
A unit so complete it's unlike any other treadmill in the world.
